De'Broski R. Herbert Ph.D has been awarded the prestigious Burroughs Wellcome Investigators in the Pathogenesis of Infectious Disease Award. This program is designed to elucidate the intersection of human and pathogen biology. The specific aims of this award are:

AIM 1: To determine whether Trefoil factor peptides down-modulate or skew T lymphocyte effector functions within the pulmonary and gastrointestinal tract

AIM2: Identify the key transcription factor(s) responsible for Trefoil factor-mediated IL-10 release from human macrophages

Global Health Sciences announced today the selection of De’Broski Herbert, PhD, as the next UCSF Burke Family Global Health Scholar. The Burke Scholar program was created in 2009 with a gift from Bob and Kathy Burke to help build the pipeline for the next generation of global health scientists and educators by investing in talented young investigators who are engaged in innovative research.
